The Senior Network Engineer executes plans established by the Director of Network Services in supporting the entire network & server infrastructure for the College, clients, partners, and customers.
Demonstrable experience in identifying and automating routine tasks
Experience in managing and maintaining multi-tenant network and server infrastructure
Experience with server virtualization technologies. VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V
Working knowledge of Single Sign on (SSO) technologies (SAML,CAS, ADFS, etc)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 environments
Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerShell scripting language
Active Directory and LDAP experience required.
Ability to apply GPOs and NTFS permissions to satisfy business requirements
IP telephony experience required.
Ability to analyze and correlate firewall logs, syslog, event logs, and other logs for root cause analysis
Experience in creating of best practices applicable to environment
Develop, build, implement & test disaster recovery and business continuity plans
Ability to investigate security breaches and/or misuse of College technology resources
Solid understanding and work experience with layer 3 networks, VRFs, 802.1x, 802.1q
Experience with Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls
Experience with SSL public and private key infrastructure including SSL decryption
Experience with managing internal/external DNS services
Experience with implementing and managing network/infrastructure monitoring platforms using SNMP, WMI, syslog, and other protocols.
Experience with reporting out metrics to aide in capacity planning for infrastructure resources
Experience with performing lifecycle upgrades including migrating configuration information from vendor to same vendor or from one vendor to another vendor.
Experience working with spam filtering products using vendor's proprietary functions as well as DNSBL's
Experience with performing Vulnerability scans and interpreting results.
Experience in wireless design, implementation, and troubleshooting
Bandwidth capacity planning, management, and monitoring
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or Information Technology.
Extensive experience (10+ years) in IT may be substituted for degree
At least three (5) years' experience in providing technology support operations and management of network systems over multiple locations

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Demonstrated project management skills
Network Certifications such as Cisco, CWNA, Microsoft, Juniper, Novell, Security+, etc. are recommended. Juniper and Cisco experience preferred.
Demonstrable experience in designing, building, managing, and migrating networks.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to delegate, schedule, and oversee tasks assigned to network administrators
Strong Analytical skills
Experience with mentoring team members on technical issues and solutions
This position requires constant mobility throughout the campus. Dexterity in working with computers, servers, and network equipment is mandatory.
