Serve as a member of the Academic Resource Center (ARC) team. Contribute to the continued development and advancement of an innovative and engaging approach to academic support/engagement based on Denison's mission, leadership principles, commitment to academic engagement, creative problem solving, and elements of individual and community well-being.
Essential Job Functions:
Assess, evaluate, and update programs and services to match the mission of the college, vision of the department and core student learning outcomes.
Supervise and train student staff who serve as tutors, ARC Ambassadors, and student workers.
Maintain high visibility and engagement with the student body and campus community at university events; work effectively with a culturally diverse population of students to coach, mentor and support dynamic needs.
Coordinate and design programmatic and other co-curricular initiatives (grounded in disability, diversity, academic skill building and student self-advocacy/efficacy), managing the assigned program budget and maintain records.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with campus partners, students, faculty/staff and parents; and communicate regularly with these partners.
Employ appreciative advising and positive psychology practices in communication and interactions with students, colleagues and other constituencies.
Sustain collegial relationships with colleagues in Student Development, the Dean of Students, the Dean of First-Year Students, Associate Provosts and the Registrar, among others. Demonstrate generous support to the work of colleagues in Student Development as well as faculty and staff across the college.
Strive to create a culture characterized by creativity and innovation in problem solving, optimism, individual initiative, a shared sense of responsibility, the intentional cultivation of trust, and attention to clear and timely communication.
Coordinate all aspects of the ARC Tutoring Program approximately 150 tutors and 6-8 Head Tutors
Students with Disabilities – Communicate with various constituents about services of Center, disability accommodations at the collegiate level including June Orientation programs, Evaluate disability documentation and recommend reasonable accommodation and adaptive technology. Keep current with knowledge of ADA, Title III, and trends in Disability Services
Academic Support/Outreach – Provide on-going advising of students who are on academic warning, have been recently reinstated or are considered to be academically
