The Director of University Summer, Winter and Special Programming is responsible for the strategy and operational leadership of all summer, J-Session and other related programs at Marquette. Through the development of relationships across the university, this role will enhance the curriculum offerings to meet student needs during these sessions while generating additional revenue for the University. In addition, this role will be responsible for assessing the market needs and financial capabilities of the University in providing additional programming for traditional and nontraditional students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Utilize data to understand enrollment patterns, develop robust summer and J-Session programming that meets students and market demand. Analyze market data for nontraditional and adult learners to determine curriculum and certificate needs. 2.Ensure that summer and J-Session are properly marketed and that students are recruited and enrolled to meet enrollment objectives. 3.Identify programmatic opportunities and develop programs to increase summer enrollments in areas ranging from pre-college programs to niche programs for Marquette degree seeking, visiting students, and adult and nontraditional students. 4.Work collaboratively with College-level leadership to ensure that appropriate courses are scheduled and staffed; develop strong relationships with academic advisors, faculty, and administrators to engage them in goals of summer and J-term growth and reaching nontraditional students. 5.Monitor and manage budgets while also monitoring course enrollments daily to optimize numbers of sections and student enrollments to maximize revenues. Work collaboratively with colleges to assure contracts are completed and facilitated. 6.Determine measures of success and review outputs to determine program opportunities and successes. Communicate clearly and frequently with constituencies across campus. 7.Work across the University to ensure operational processes are in place to align with summer and J-Session student needs and that facilities are available as needed. 8.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Master's degree in higher education administrator or related field and/or MBA.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of successful higher education experience.
Record of success in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with diverse constituencies.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, meet revenue targets and stay within expense parameters.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analytically and to convert ideas to action to achieve goals.
Demonstrated ability to influence others.
Demonstrated success in leading and expanding revenue generating enterprises.
Strong communication skills (both verbally and in writing) that show ability to create clear and concise messages.
Record of using data in assessing results and developing future focused plans.
Primarily an office environment, minimal travel, need to often travel across campus and to nearby facilities.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ph.D. or other terminal degree
Strong connection to the higher education industry for reference on best practices and new initiatives.
Experience working with faculty, understanding university cultures, and experience with student services.
