Job Summary: The successful applicant will under minimal programming supervision, design and write reproducible programs to generate customized analytical datasets for research projects using large healthcare claims relational databases (e.g. Medicaid, Medicare databases) from a secure data core. The applicant will also participate in monitoring and maintaining data management processes and perform data quality control assessments.
Key functions and expected performances:
1.Demonstrate programming proficiency in the execution of major data components of quantitative research projects.
2.Design and write reproducible programs to generate analytical datasets for research projects a)Execute research protocols to produce analytical datasets from relational healthcare claims databases (e.g. Medicaid, Medicare databases) b)Generate appropriate program documentation throughout the process to assure the reproducibility of the dataset generation c)Produce basic report tabulations or representations of data to summarize dataset information
3.Participate in monitoring and maintaining data management processes and perform data quality control assessments a)Update of core databases by merging newly available data b)Generation of appropriate program documentation for data updates and upgrades c)Performing assessments to assure consistency and integrity of the data d)Maintain core data compliant with State and Federal security regulations
4.Serve as a technical resource to users and others in the department
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelorâs degree in Computer Sciences or related field and a minimum of three years of related experience. Experience working with relational healthcare databases (e.g. Medicaid, Medicare databases) and experience using SAS and SQL is strongly preferred.
