To assess, develop, implement, administer, supervise, and evaluate a comprehensive membership program including membership sales and promotion, guest services to include leading a team of 5-10 student employees, membership tracking, and membership software administration. Lead departmental guest relations/customer service initiatives and external marketing of memberships and youth programming. A critical component of this position includes the use and understanding of the department's recreation software.
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Education, Marketing or a related field; minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in Recreation Services or a related field (one year of experience and graduate assistant experience can be substituted for the two year experience requirement). Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures; and demonstrated experience in membership sales, guest services, customer service, marketing and direct group/individual supervision.
Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications or be able to obtain within two months of employment. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills are essential. Candidate must be able and to work evenings and weekends when needed.
Knowledge of: standard practices in memberships, marketing and customer service for community and campus recreation.
Skills and abilities: Experience with membership sales, guest services, customer service, and direct group/individual supervising required. Successful candidates will have the ability to assess student needs, value a high degree of student contact, able to interact effectively with a diverse group of people, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate well in verbal and written form. Ability to work as part of a professional team that collaborates effectively with colleagues; analyze facility operations and make necessary policy changes when needed; write concise logical reports, set priorities, and complete assignments on time.
Master's degree in Campus Recreation Administration, Higher Education Administration, Student Development, Recreation Management, Sports Management, Kinesiology or a related field. Two years of staff supervision experience, including the development of student staff. Demonstrated experience in relevant computer applications (i.e. Fusion; When to Work) and revenue generating experience. American Red Cross CPR, CPR-PR, AED, and First Aid, active member of NIRSA.
