Provide legal administrative support to members of the faculty of Loyola Law School by managing the workload and prioritizing the needs for an assigned group of professors.
Typically a two-year college degree or equivalent supplemented by course work in office administration skills and related subjects or equivalent life experiences in which these skills, abilities and knowledge have been demonstrated. Course work in word processing and legal assistance is highly desirable. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
Minimum three years of office experience in administrative support work; one year of experience in the legal assistant field.
Ability to analyze, manage, multi-task, plan, organize and execute day-to-day operations. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a rigorous and detail-oriented approach to each task. Ability to assess and prioritize work flow on a daily basis.
A collaborative team player who has the capacity to take ownership and be accountable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to compose and edit correspondence, reports, academic articles and memoranda. Must maintain confidences and confidential information.
Specialized knowledge of legal terminology, compilation of legal briefs and legal memoranda preferred. Familiarity with modern office methods and practices; correct spelling, grammar and professional speaking manner.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to quickly learn and use new software programs with minimal supervision and training
Computer proficiency to include creation and maintenance of web pages preferably using T4 or Drupal. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word is highly desired along with proficiency in using Excel, PowerPoint and Concur.
