The Academic Advancement Director for the Mendoza College of Business is charged with effectively connecting the the Mendoza College of Business with the University's Department of Development. The individual will report to the Senior Director, Academic & Global Advancement, and in pursuit of funding for the Mendoza College of Business, will serve four primary constituents:
The Dean, faculty, and staff of the Mendoza College of Business;
University donors; and
Leadership and other staff of the Department of Development. As the primary engine for proposal development, the individual will in collaboration with fundraisers, be expected to:
Build and actively manage a proposal pipeline;
Develop formal proposals to be presented to donors; and
Advance proposals from inception to conclusion. The individual will be expected to meet annual collaborative production goals as developed with the Senior Director. Duties and Responsibilities:
In collaboration with fundraisers, develop and manage a proposal pipeline
In collaboration with the Dean, faculty, and staff of the Mendoza College of Business:
identify growth priorities for the College;
develop and confirm funding needs; and
assist in development of growth plans that will facilitate fundraising and donor engagement.
Through regular, effective connectivity with Development fundraisers, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward fundraising prospects with capacity and inclination to make leadership level gifts. Facilitate effective connectivity with fundraisers and onward to donors by developing messaging, packaging, and engagement content related to the Mendoza College of Business priorities.
Advance within the Mendoza College of Business a culture of philanthropy and awareness of Development's expectations, policies, processes, and procedures through formal and informal engagement of leadership and other staff within each area
*In pursuit of transformative gifts to Notre Dame, together with peer Academic Advancement Directors and the Director of Campaign Strategy, identify, develop, confirm, and articulate messaging, packaging, and engagement around major initiatives that are understood and promotable by fundraisers
In collaboration with the Dean, faculty, and staff of the Mendoza College of Business and other stakeholders, develop a vision for the Mendoza College of Business that is consistent with the mission of Notre Dame; is understandable and promotable by fundraisers; and resonates with non-academic external constituents of the University
Administer the Mendoza College of Business Advisory Council as a fundraising vehicle, and execute on a rolling basis an annual calendar of engagement activities relevant to promoting the Mendoza College of Business priorities to fundraisers and donors
Develop and execute a plan to ensure effective stewardship and compliance of donors to the Mendoza College of Business and respond promptly and effectively to donor relations issues as and when they emerge
Comfortable in a performance driven, transparent, accountable culture where goal achievement is highly valued
Evidence of effective collaboration across teams with diverse interests, experiences, backgrounds, and goals
Sales and / or brand management experience preferred
Knowledge of the role of philanthropy at universities. Record of success in translating complexity into clear ideas and effective communication.
Experience and record of success in writing and speaking clearly and persuasively
Evidence of ability to gain trust of leadership, and convince others to work for your interests
Strong verbal communication skills
Bachelors degree (4 years)
Advanced degree may enhance qualifications
5 to 6 years of experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite / Google collaboration suite, and able to quickly assimilate to proprietary and new technology
Ability to use existing and identify new technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Preferred Qualifications: Must be willing to travel. Some evenings and weekends will be required.
