This position is responsible for the care and maintenance of electrical systems, appliances and fire alarm systems that are maintained by the University. This position is considered a full-time, second shift position, currently scheduled Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. During the first 90 to 120 days, this position will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to allow for an orientation period. Please also note that in the near future the regular work days will be changing to Tuesday through Saturday to cover weekend work requests and special events. This change will occur when the university determines it is in their best interest to adjust.
Must have three years experience as an electrical mechanic. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in the repair of kitchen appliances and fire alarm systems and some background in electronics is desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete work orders assigned by Supervisor in a timely fashion.
Assist Lead Electrical Mechanic in Christmas decorations.
Help with major college functions as needed (graduation, convocation, snow, etc.)
Maintenance of electrical systems with the following priorities: 1. Inspection and repair of fire alarm systems, exit lights, emergency battery backup, generator systems and outside security lights. 2. Other work orders prioritized by who and how many people are affected.
Maintain communication to campus community through building liaisons regarding equipment status or interruption of service.
Available for on-call duty after normal business hours.
Any other work deemed necessary by the Supervisor, Utilities Maintenance Manager or higher authority.
Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the University's carrier. Following a conditional offer of employment, Elon conducts motor vehicle record checks on all job applicants who are required to drive a university vehicle as an essential function of their job. Thereafter, a random motor vehicle record check will be conducted annually. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a motor vehicle record check.
