Provide support and assistance to the Director of International Student Services and Study Abroad:
1.Advise non-US citizen students on Durham Tech admissions policies and procedures. 2.Review foreign credentials for admissions purposes. 3.Complete immigration document checks for all new students, previously unchecked students, and students with document updates. 4.Determine residency for tuition status for all new (and returning as needed) students. 5.Assist with approving tuition sponsorship for students who qualify. 6.Provide immigration advising, basic academic advising and resources for students who want to attend/or are currently attending Durham Tech. 7.Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 student status holders at Durham Tech and provide advising to students in F-1 status or seeking F-1 status. 8.As a DSO, insure that Durham Tech complies with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations. 9.Help develop, document and publicize Durham Tech policies for F-1 students. 10.Participate in professional development activities to keep up to date on DHS regulations and changes, NC community college changes, and NC residency policy updates. 11.Assist with programming for F-1 students (orientation, topical workshops, etc) or other non-US citizen students. 12.Participate in campus meetings, events and trainings to keep up with changes across campus for all campus programs in which non-US citizen students may enroll. 13.Work with the Director to insure that faculty and staff across campus understand and support the special requirements and needs of non-US citizens students. 14.Attend recruitment events for Durham Tech curriculum programs as needed. 15.Assist in researching potential study/work/intern/volunteer abroad programs that meet the needs of Durham Tech students (and the steps to implementing these programs at Durham Tech.) 16.Assist in researching funding opportunities for Durham Tech students to go abroad. 17.Advise students interested in study/work/intern/volunteer abroad opportunities while at Durham Tech. 18.Assume other duties to aid the Director, especially in high volume times and in the Director's absence.
A U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident, as required by the Department of Homeland Security.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field (international studies, social science, communications, business, education, etc.).
