The Department of Engineering-LAS Online Learning (ELO) within the College of Engineering at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Program Assistant II who will be part of the team for a university-wide testing operation in three permanent and three seasonal physical testing locations. This position will play a critical role in supporting faculty, serving students and improving the overall student electronic testing experience to provide a secure, proctored, and monitored environment to deliver exams.
This position will be responsible for managing an assigned testing location including administering exams, supervising student employees, managing supplies and technology, and resolving issues as they arise. The position will also manage other testing locations as necessary based on testing volume, student staffing levels and other demands. Additionally, the position will collaborate with the Testing Center Coordinator to recruit, select, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate student proctors to ensure performance levels are met and academic integrity of the testing centers is maintained.
The successful candidate will have effective management and organizational skills, the ability to work well with a diverse population, and the ability to communicate effectively. All staff members are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience proctoring online and/or paper based exams.
Experience with online learning management and testing systems.
Secondary or post-secondary teaching experience and/or training.
Experience with personnel management, training and/or supervising student employees.
While the working hours may vary, standard hours during the academic year will normally be 9:00am-6:00pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00-5:00 Friday. Flexible hours and the potential for weekend hours may be necessary.
