This position is within the UCI Model Organism Development and Evaluation for Late-onset Alzheimer?s disease (MODEL-AD) Disease Modeling Project (DMP) Core. MODEL-AD is a NIA / NIH-funded multi-project, multi-institutional grant whose goal is to produce the next generation of mouse models for late-onset AD and develop new therapeutic targets. Under supervision of the Project Scientist, the incumbent?s major job responsibility is to help conduct a project to investigate the effect of genetic background on development of AD-like pathology in mice. This entails molecular characterization and genotyping of newly developed transgenic animal models using PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, Southern blotting and hybridization, operation of Fragment Analyzer, handling biopsy samples, and creating analysis reports.The University of California, Irvine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer advancing inclusive excellence.
