The Office of the Vice President for Research, Sponsored Program Services, is recruiting for a Cash Management Assistant (Financial Assistant 1) to join our sponsored research financial services team.
Under the supervision of the Manager of Financial Services, the CM Assistant is responsible for performing the accounting and book-keeping functions related to the billings and collections of sponsored research accounts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance of monthly billing cycle and preparation of accounts receivable invoices to sponsors of grants and awards through a variety of on-line invoicing systems.
Receipt of monies in a variety of forms, including wire transfers and state transfer invoices.
Preparation and accounting system entry of journal vouchers to record billings and cash receipts.
Preparation of quarterly and ad hoc financial reports.
Following up on outstanding invoices.
Trouble-shooting and serving as a liaison to sponsors, researchers, and university staff regarding billing requests and inquiries.
Other duties as required.
Associates degree plus two years of current or recent experience in accounting, bookkeeping or similar capacity, where the primary day-to-day duties involve performing financial transactions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated accuracy, skill, and efficiency in performing arithmetical computations and data entry.
Working knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
Excellent record-keeping and follow-up skills.
Attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
Effective time management skills, including ability to multitask and manage a large workload in a fast-paced environment under the pressure of various deadlines.
Experience with online, electronic financial processing.
Experience in Accounts Receivable.
