The Administrative Assistant I will performadministrative, secretarial and clerical services for Chemistry Department,which may include those of a detailed and confidential nature, may involve asubstantial amount of complex detailed and technical work and assistadministrator with handling of a variety of office management responsibilities.Function with a high degree of understanding of University policies andprocedures.
Chemistry is the intellectual home to over 250students, post-docs, and faculty members working in a wide range ofspecializations, as well as the interdisciplinary fields of chemical biology,structural biology, molecular toxicology, materials chemistry, andnanotechnology. Close collaboration with the School of Medicine, School ofEngineering and other departments within the College of Arts andScience-particularly the departments of biological sciences andphysics--provides valuable opportunities to not only excel in the traditionaldisciplines of chemistry but also investigate the many ways that chemistryintersects with other fields.

Serves as departmental procurement Requester, assists Chemistry faculty with travel reimbursements.
Coordinates space and facilities planning; assists Administrative Officer and Administrative Manager with space and equipment audits as well as facility repair requests.
Maintains instructional technology hardware for the Department; assesses needs, processes procurement orders and oversees necessary repairs of the equipment.
Serves as a Liaison between Chemistry and ITS department in regards to IT issues; maintains departmental website; assists faculty with biographical pages by designing and developing new sites, and sub-sites, video and audio segments to meet user needs. Uploads multimedia files to the servers as needed adhering to established file/content organization standards.
Ensures that the content served to the public is up-to-date with the most current and appropriately formatted information. Uses appropriate software/Web tools to adapt to changing media inventory in order to update Web pages with current photos, video and podcasts. Meets regularly and as needed with internal teams to establish routine maintenance and update details, priorities, and processes.
Responsible for front desk operations, room/projector reservations and ordering of office supplies, Provides classroom support (Audio/Video, copying/distribution of the exams/book orders, etc.)

Profile ofan Ideal Candidate
HS Diploma or GED and 4 years of experience is necessary. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Good organizational skills
Web design experience
Excel skills are critical
