The Student Hourly Assistant, under the supervision of the Tutoring Coordinator, will assist SASC | Tutoring with daily operations.
Planning and facilitating tutoring sessions utilizing collaborative learning methodologies in one-on-one or group sessions that will help them be successful in classes that have a high demand
Establishing and maintaining rapport with the assigned student(s)
Assisting students in the development of appropriate study skills
Modeling appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, faculty and students
Motivating and supporting students achievement and success
Serving as a role model for students receiving services
Maintaining consistent communication with supervisory staff
Attending mandatory tutor training meetings
Fostering an inclusive learning environment
Performing other assigned duties as required
Required Education and Experience:
Presently enrolled for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
No prior experience necessary
For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least six (6) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Proven record of accomplishment in the following subjects: MATH 1113, MATH 1124 and MATH 2024.
GPA of 3.0 or higher
