The Bhatt Lab, led by Dr. Ami Bhatt, MD, Ph.D., is part of the Departments of Genetics and Hematology at Stanford University School of Medicine. The lab is a bioinformatics and microbial metagenomics hub that focuses on translating innovative and cutting-edge molecular biological, microbiological, clinical informatics and bioinformatics skills to understand the impact (positive and negative) of the microbiome on patient outcomes, especially as it pertains to individuals with cancer. As a group that sees the role for novel approaches to improving patient care, we are committed to leveraging advances in genomics and translational biology to manipulate the microbiome safely and effectively in this vulnerable patient population. Patient participation is a critical part of our research success and our efforts to make impact in this realm of research. In addition to collecting comprehensive clinical information about hundreds of cancer patients treated at Stanford, the lab also has a rich resource of biospecimens from these individuals.
We are seeking a full time (1.0 FTE) Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator (ACRC) to help manage these microbiome-related clinical studies. The ACRC will work collaboratively with various study teams to help manage participant screenings, study procedures, IRB protocol compliance in addition to sample collection, processing, and sequencing.
The primary project that we are seeking help for is a study of the microbiome in patients undergoing chimeric-antigen receptor (CAR T-cell therapy. Dr. David Miklos and his large research group have been collecting blood and tumor tissue on patients undergoing this relatively new cellular immunotherapy. We will be collecting and sequencing 6 stool samples from 160 patients.

Schedule and/or call subjects for appointments; contact participants with reminders or other requirements.
Assist with the screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants. Review medical records and/or perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed.
Extract data from source documents for research studies as directed. Collect data and complete case report forms.
Order and maintain equipment and supplies.
Attend lab meetings.

Previous academic research experience (either clinical or laboratory) desired but not required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
General knowledge of medical terminology.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
Working toward certification(s) to perform basic patient measurements and tests, such as phlebotomy and EKG.
Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat and use fine light/fine grasping.
Occasionally sit, reach above shoulders, perform desk-based computer tasks, use a telephone and write by hand, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, grasp forcefully, sort and file paperwork or parts, rarely lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh 40 pounds or more.
