Involves developing, interpreting and implementing financial concepts for financial planning, resource planning (dollars), and control of organizational budget. May analyze and prepare recommendations for financial plans, including annual resource allocations, future requirements, and operating forecasts.
Under the general supervision of the Financial Analyst of Housing Services, the Business Services Coordinator is responsible for financial operations, accounting, reporting, and operational support for Conference Services and the Ticketing Office. This includes an administrative budget of $975,000, summer conference revenue of over 4 million dollars, and activity in 100 plus separate ledger accounts. Additionally, this position will be responsible for sub-cashiering activities (deposits and ledger transfers), office administration, guest housing, ticketing office reconciliation, web registration transactions and reporting related to both conference and ticketing offices. During the off season for Conference Services this position will also assist with projects and tasks related to other Housing Services departmental needs. Such as, processing forms, gathering financial data and completing financial transactions as needed.
Colleges, Housing, and Educational Services (CHES) is a multi-funded organization within the Business and Administrative Services (BAS) division at the University of California (UC) Santa Cruz. CHES provides leadership in the areas of college student life and residential services, housing services, facilities, employee housing and capital planning, dining services, conference services, early education services, the Bay Tree Bookstore, ID card services, and business and financial analysis for these areas.
The Housing Services unit of Colleges, Housing and Educational Services (CHES) provides direct service and programs to 1,100 residents in six Associated Residential Community Housing (ARCH) communities which support single students and students with families. The unit provides comprehensive facilities support to the ten residential colleges, dining services facilities and the ARCH communities. The unit provides numerous other services supporting the campus-wide housing program, including Facilities operations for all of housing and dining, Student Housing Services (Contracts, Marketing and Communication for over 7,900 student bed spaces that generate over $80 million in auxiliary income annually), Diversity and Inclusion Program, and Community Safety Program, as well as off-campus student housing support and summer conference operations.
Conference Services provides the ongoing management of the UC Santa Cruz Ticketing Operation including vendor management, training, accounting, show website development, equipment rentals, fielding of public calls and email questions and onsite support, when the show producer is unable to do so.
Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, policies, procedures and systems.
Experience in processing financial transactions, such as credit card payments, cashiering, preparing financial deposits, financial analysis and reporting.
Knowledge of fiscal control and inventory management skills.
Demonstrated ability to gather retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
Skill and experience in the use of computer applications, including the ability to create and use complex financial spreadsheets, databases, word processing, PowerPoint, e-mail, and web based applications.

Current work site is UCSC Scotts Valley Center at 100 Enterprise Way Scotts Valley, CA.
Some travel between the main campus and other off campus workplaces will be required.
