Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Institute for Social Capital, Inc. (ISC) Data and Research Coordinator assists the ISC Associate Director with the day-to-day management of ISC, specifically coordinating data deposits with data depositors and coordinating the research projects that utilize the ISC Community Database. This position requires a significant amount of community relationship development, quantitative research expertise, project management skills, and a broad knowledge of research topics. The Data and Research Coordinator serves as project coordinator for research projects through the Institute for Social Capital, Inc. (ISC) and has primary responsibility for managing data deposits from data partners as well as coordinating the disposition of data requests through ISC's Data and Research Oversight Committee (DAROC), serving as a liaison between researchers and DAROC, and taking an active role in project design and review as required by DAROC and the UNC Charlotte Institutional Review Board (IRB). The Data and Research Coordinator also conducts research projects related to her/his research expertise, as time allows.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Master's degree in a social science field related to the ISC community database including education, housing, health, and/or social services.
A minimum of two years of experience in social science research
Project management experience
Experience in coordinating and managing social science research projects, data collection and management, statistical analysis, and reporting
Strong organizational as well as oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience with large databases at the national, state and local levels
Experience in facilitating meetings with community members, government officials and other stakeholders
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
Proficiency in SAS, SPSS, R, or STATA, and GIS
Experience in survey development and implementation
Familiarity with database and case management software such as SQL
Knowledge of federal laws pertaining to usage of individual data including HIPAA and FERPA
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Preferred Degree: Specialization in field related to ISC research including education, housing, health, and/or social services.
