Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Institute for Social Capital, Inc. (ISC) Associate Director assists in the administration of ISC and directs its day-to-day management. This position has significant social research and managerial components, requires a significant amount of community relationship development and a broad knowledge of research topics and methodologies. This position manages and assists research teams involving community members, faculty members, graduate students, research staff brought together to work on a major applied social research activity using the ISC Community Database. Master's degree is required. The ISC Associate Director serves as the day-to-day manager of the Institute for Social Capital, Inc. (ISC) and has primary responsibility for the management of ongoing tasks that ensure the maintenance and security of the ISC community database, compliance with governance and regulatory structures, access to the database for community partners and faculty researchers, and dissemination of research related to the use of the database. The Associate Director is also responsible for directing projects related to her/his social science research expertise. This position is responsible for managing at least one staff member and possibly additional staff members as the ISC Community Database grows.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Master's degree in the social sciences, preferably with a specialization in housing and community development.
A minimum of three years of experience in social science research
Program management experience
Experience in coordinating and managing social science research projects, data collection and management, statistical analysis, and reporting
Strong organizational as well as oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience with large databases at the national, state and local levels
Experience in facilitating meetings with community members, government officials and other stakeholders
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
Proficiency in SAS, SPSS, or STATA, and GIS
Experience in survey development and implementation
Familiarity with database and case management software such as SQL, HMIS and ServicePoint
Knowledge of federal laws pertaining to usage of individual data including HIPAA and FERPA
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Preferred Degree: Specialization in Social Sciences Preferred Skills: SAS, R, or SPSS
