The Department of Computer Science in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for a Program Assistant II to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the graduate program for the Department of Computer Science.
Responsibilities include coordinating student admissions, advising students, overseeing the paper-less application process, monitoring student progress through the program, coordinating external and internal relations activities for current graduate students, serving as the first point of contact for all inquiries related to the program, communications with prospective students, and planning and executing ideas for marketing and recruiting students into this program. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing the department budget and employment processes for graduate students and post-docs on assistantship appointments including letters of intent, origination and routing of electronic personnel actions, and tuition scholarships.
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills to effectively interact with students, faculty and other professionals.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience with graduate student program administration and/or recruitment
Experience with electronic record keeping
Experience with international travel, work and education policies
Experience collecting and analyzing data
Experience screening education, employment, or other types of applications
