Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Athletics Department is accepting applications for a Program Assistant II to serve as a Compliance Coordinator who will assist the Athletics' Compliance unit in ensuring coaches, student-athletes, staff, former students, and boosters abide by NCAA, Big 12 Conference and institutional rules and regulations. The position will primarily assist with the monitoring of assigned areas that could include: initial eligibility, financial aid, education, roster management, student-athlete employment, promotional activities, student-athlete benefits, institutional camps and clinics, etc. Will assist in providing rules interpretations to the institution's student-athletes, coaches and staff. Position will regularly analyze, request, research, verify, create, and distribute a large volume of information as well as maintain several modules and reports within the Teamworks, Jump Forward and Compliance Assistant (CA) databases. Position will assist in providing rules education and interpretive guidance to the institution's student-athletes, coaches and staff. Position may assist in waiver writing, external and internal audits, and other compliance related duties. This position requires a high level of integrity and will perform all duties in adherence with NCAA, Big 12, and university policies.
The successful candidates will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with individuals and groups. The candidates will have exceptional organizational skills, be highly detail oriented, and have the ability to research and analyze compliance related issues and NCAA legislation through the Legislative Services Database (LSDBi).The candidate will also possess excellent judgment and decision-making along with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet departmental deadlines.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience working directly in an NCAA compliance office with DI regulations and interpretations, including FBS football.
Experience analyzing regulations, researching interpretations, monitoring designated activities, and providing others guidance on compliance and regulations.
Experience that includes regular interaction working with collegiate coaches and student-athletes on compliance monitoring issues.
Degree in related field of study.
This position is subject to compliance with the NCAA's IAWP legislation which defines an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete (IAWP) as any person who maintains (or directs others to maintain) contact with the prospective student-athlete, the prospective student-athlete’s relatives or legal guardians, or coaches at any point during the prospective student-athlete’s participation in men's basketball, women's basketball, and/or football and whose contact is directly or indirectly related to either the prospective student-athlete’s athletic skills and abilities or the prospective student-athlete’s recruitment by or enrollment in an NCAA institution. This definition includes, but is not limited to, parents, legal guardians, handlers, personal trainers and coaches. A violation occurs if an IAWP is employed by the institution and, at the time of employment, a student-athlete who enrolled at the institution in the previous two years (and remains enrolled at the institution) was a prospective student-athlete by which the individual meets the definition of an IAWP. A violation also occurs if an IAWP is employed and, within two years after such employment, a prospective student-athlete by which the individual meets the definition of an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete enrolls as a full-time student in a regular academic term at the institution.
