The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS), College of Veterinary Medicine, Iowa State University invites applications for the positon of Assistant or Associate Professor for a person with a research program relevant to in Gastrointestinal Physiology. This is a tenure track, full-time, 9-month positon with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications.
The Department of Biomedical Sciences has very active research programs in the areas of neurodegeneration, parasitology, infectious diseases, neuropharmacology/immunology, neurotoxicology, RNA biology, animal behavior and welfare and translational pharmacology.
The successful candidate will establish a dynamic, extramurally-funded research program in any of the above existing fields or other emerging areas such as gut microbiome, gut brain axis relates to human and/or animal health.
The successful candidate will also teach Veterinary Gastrointestinal Physiology to professional students and will mentor graduate students.
Required Education and Experience:
- PhD in physiology or other related biological sciences and relevant experience in neurodegeneration, parasitology, infectious diseases, neuropharmacology/immunology, neurotoxicology, RNA biology, animal behavior and welfare, or translational pharmacology. - Postdoctoral research experience. - Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
In addition to the requirements listed above, the following requirements apply: ASSOCIATEPROFESSOR: Candidates must meet the requirements commensurate for each rank at the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine and Department of Biomedical Sciences.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Demonstrated potential for successful extramural grant applications - Teaching experience in the area of GI Physiology
