8B is a 32 bed General Medicine Telemetry Unit. The unit’s patient population consists of GI Bleed, CHF, pneumonia, DM, various cardiac arrhythmias, and overflow of oncology patients. The patient age range is young adult through geriatric.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
To develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate 8B’s new employee orientation program.
To identify 8B ongoing staff educational needs and facilitate in-services as appropriate to the needs of the nursing team.
To design and implement staff development plans. These activities are done in collaboration with the 8B Nursing Leadership Team.
To demonstrate the clinical nursing role through direct patient care, role modeling, and consultation to nursing and other members of the health care team.

Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan as a RN.
Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Five (5) or more years RN experience on a step-down or ICU setting in the past seven (7) years
Unit and committee involvement with evidence of increasing responsibilities in the following roles: two (2) or more years in the Charge Nurse Role, two (2) or more years of teaching skills including two (2) years preceptor experience.

ACLS certification preferred
Certified Med/Surg (RN-BC/CMRN) or Progressive Care (PCCN) preferred

Night Shift Differential- $3.20 per hour
Weekend Differential- $1.75 per hour

Hours/Week: 40 hours Shift/Hours: Day/Evening shift , with occasional Day Shift fixed business time. *must be flexible to accommodate needs of the unit. Location: University Hospital-8B Medicine Acute Care/Telemetry Unit. **This position will be approximately 80% staffing.
