Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Department of Social and Behavioral Health Sciences at the School of Public Health. The Temporary Research Assistant will provide a range of research and programmatic activities in support of the Criminal Justice & Cancer Health Prevention Lab on the Newark Campus.
Assists Project Director and Research Assistant with Research and Program Activities in several designated research sites in Pennsylvania.
Develops positive working relationships with policy makers, stakeholders, constituents and legislators to establish tobacco control and cancer prevention activities for criminal justice populations in Pennsylvania.
Prepares opinion editorial letters, presentation documents, and tailored Cancer 101 manuals related to Tobacco control and cancer prevention activities for criminal justice populations.
Gathers information about criminal justice populations related to tobacco control, smoking cessation and cancer prevention in Pennsylvania.
Prepares grant applications and funding proposals.
Collaborates with the Project Director in preparing manuscripts, reports and summaries for publications.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Must have a minimum of one (1) year direct service working with vulnerable and hardly-reached populations.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirement.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have experience working with criminal justice system-involved adults.
Must possess excellent communication skills.
Strong data management and analytical skills required.
Must have a working knowledge of cancer health and tobacco control.
Must have flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must have a working knowledge of health disparities, health promotion and health education.
Must have knowledge of Microsoft office suite applications.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
PHYSICALDEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.
WORKENVIRONMENT: Office environment and offsite locations. Moderate noise.
Must be able to work 16 hours a week.
Must have valid driver's license and vehicle and be able and willing to travel to research sites in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
