The instructor is a member of the Riverland Community College Farm Business Management team. This person will be responsible for the planning, organization, implementation, delivery and evaluation of a Farm Business Management education program for our service area. This will include providing instruction in record-keeping, farm business analysis interpretation, tax management, farm finance, decision making, commodity marketing, and general farm management. Instruction is delivered during individual instructional sessions at the farm business, in the instructor's office, classroom settings, seminars and by the use of technology to facilitate distance learning. Candidates should possess good communication, listening, financial counseling, human relations skills and the ability to recruit students in a competitive environment. Ethical behavior, confidentiality and the ability to understand rural life are required. The successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in professional development activities including workshops and conferences hosted by the Minnesota Association of Agricultural Educators (MAAE).
Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agriculture education, business, finance, economics or accounting.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in agricultural operations, agricultural finance, or agribusiness.
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Experience in farm business accounting, budgeting, and financial statement analysis and preparation.
Background in farm business management or a related business providing client financial consultation.
Experience working with on-line curriculum development and delivery.
Multilingual or multicultural background or experience working with underserved populations.
Experience in developing and delivering educational programs .
Familiarity with personal computer software usage in a farm business setting.
Experience in planning, organizing, providing leadership, appointment scheduling, and practicing effective use of time.
