Manage all analytical and compliance efforts of Sponsored Programs Administration for report development, quality assurance, and analysis. Develop reports to meet the needs of the Principal Investigators (PI's) and departmental administrators, SPA management and staff. The position also supports business process improvements including projects to enhance automation, quality, and efficiency. The Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing the report results to identify trends and anomalies. Analyze data and reporting solutions to understand business impact, correlations/discrepancies, and to propose changes or solutions. Field all customer requests for reports, analytics and data issues. Act as the primary point of contact on day-to-day system issues, data questions, report queries and works closely with Financial Systems Management, Decision Support Group and IT to resolve the issue or perform analysis/ testing in a timely manner.
Required Education: Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or related subject
Preferred Education: Master's in Finance or Information Systems
Required Experience: 5 years related experience. Must include experience with query and report development and analysis. Experience with Federal grants and post-award administration, analysis and reconciliation of grant accounts, and complex financial reports and/or analysis.
Preferred Experience: Extensive knowledge of report writers including Access, Brio or OBIEE. Extensive knowledge of University grant reporting utilizing PeopleSoft. Some knowledge of pre-award proposal management systems such as Cayuse.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Advanced knowledge of MS Office and database applications, and working knowledge of data warehousing. Ability to stratify and report on information to meet user needs. The ability to do Macros in Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, self-motivated and ability to multi-task. The ability to communicate complex financial information (mostly financial, legal, and regulatory) to a diverse population in a user-friendly format. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. The ability to work in a high paced, fast-moving, intellectually rigorous environment.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Background in complex forms of data and financial analysis (such as forecasting) and forensic accounting. Extensive knowledge of grants administration, including OMB Circulars A-21, A-110, and A-133 regulations.
