Two postdoctoral research positions in machine learning of biomolecular interactions are available at the Department of Chemistry, Rutgers University-Camden. Research will be performed under the supervision of Dr. Guillaume Lamoureux, newly appointed Associate Professor in the department and member of the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology (CCIB), as part of an ongoing collaboration with Prof. Yoshua Bengio, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research (University of Montreal).
Research will be aimed at developing deep learning architectures to model biomolecular structure and to predict protein-protein interactions. Depending on the candidate’s interests, the project can be directed towards either systems biology or computational protein design. Multiple opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration are available for both research directions.
One of the two positions includes undergraduate teaching responsibilities. The successful candidate for that position will be in charge of two courses every year, chosen from the offering of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Physics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline (completed or near completion)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Expertise in at least two of these fields: molecular modeling, structural bioinformatics, machine learning
Excellent proficiency in at least one programming language
