Department Overview: The Department of Oral Medicine, Infection, and Immunity is heavily invested in cutting-edge research and the training of postgraduate students in the fields of bone biology, oral and maxillofacial pathology, oral medicine, and periodontology.
Position Overview: We are seeking a research technician experienced in working with mice and performing related laboratory experiments. The individual will collect project data and perform routine logging and/or testing of samples. The individual will be responsible for maintaining mouse lines, breeding, collecting samples and genotyping mice, including ear tagging, taking tail snips, preparing genomic DNA and performing PCR as well as performing related laboratory maintenance. Communicating with the mouse facility personnel to ensure proper handling of housing issues will also be an integral part of the position.
This is a minimum one-year term position, with the possibility of renewal.

College background or equivalent work experience, preferably working with lab animals. At least one year of related work experience with demonstrated abilities in basic laboratory techniques.
Candidates should be familiar with mouse related work such as husbandry, weaning, mating, bleeding and necropsy. Proficiency with MS Excel software. Excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced interdisciplinary environment. Openness to training and learning new techniques and theories. Offers contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.
