The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Course Coordinator to join our team. Serve on a two person team to provide a broad-range of complex administrative support for instructors teaching general chemistry; serve as the Carmen specialist for the department, design Carmen course page templates and facilitate the implementation of other computer-enhanced instructional materials; organize department classrooms and instructional materials such as quizzes, syllabi, and exams; administer the preparation and grading of general chemistry exams; generate complex reports using Scantron grading software and resolve possible exam errors; design exam proctoring schedule; train TA proctors; apply custom Carmen grade cuts in collaboration with the Vice Chair of Undergraduate Studies; submit and post course grades to the registrar's office and determine all EN grades; assist the Undergraduate Program Manager with daily operations of the undergraduate chemistry office, such as implementing assessment plans, managing travel activities, processing event requests, placing purchasing orders, and beginning of the term administration; serve as a backup for the front-desk administration; contribute to the development of office procedures and training materials; assign tasks to student employees; pro-actively manage and create the master schedule of classes in SIS for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry; coordinate with other departments to minimize course conflicts; place common exam requests and general event requests in SIS; serve as the scheduling contact for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry; plan and organize special events such as convocation, poster sessions, and chem club meetings; find emergency substitutes for General Chemistry lab and recitation TAs using the SickTA listerv; take minutes at department meetings; maintain Undergraduate Studies webpage and multi-media presentations; other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in education, communication, psychology, or related field. Reasonable experience in the area of instructional design and/or curriculum design and analysis is necessary.
Some experience in directing a developmental project in a related field.
Target Salary: $21.33 - $23.74 Hourly
