The Rockefeller University seeks a Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner (part-time; 21 hours/week) to join Biology of Addictive Diseases. The Clinical Research Nurse Practitioner will implement established protocols investigating the biological and genetic basis of addiction. Responsibilities will include screening potential research volunteers with a substance dependence history, obtaining informed consent, performing history and physical exams, and evaluating lab work and EKG's to determine eligibility for studies. Will be responsible for managing the care of patients enrolled in neuroendocrine protocols from admission to discharge, including the administration of both FDA-approved and IND study medication. Will also assist in the writing and submission of clinical protocols for initial IRB submission, required annual regulatory data, and preparation of NIH Grant submissions if necessary. There will be an opportunity for involvement in the preparation and co-authoring of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
Master's degree and license to practice as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner in New York State required. Experience in research and/or substance dependence treatment preferred. Must be intelligent, organized, adaptable, and be able to thrive in a high-energy, multi-tasking environment. Must be independent, but also able to work within a team. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and have excellent writing skills, as well as a strong command of the English language. Must have the ability to be discreet and handle confidential materials. Experience with Oracle purchasing applications, IRB, and grant submission processes desirable.
