UC San Diego Health is seeking a Population Health & Slicer Dicer Lead Analyst to provide application strategy, analytics, design, analysis, system build, and general support on the population health Information Services (IS) team. The Lead is responsible for the development and implementation of Population Health applications, analytics, and workflows for UC San Diego's Enterprise Population Health programs.
Population Health & Quality
The IS Population Health & Analytics Team actively supports clinical and operations efforts around population health and quality improvement. Efforts to improve quality and population health advance the Quadruple Aim – the improvement of patient outcomes, patient experience, provider experience, and reduction of cost of care. Population health programs aim to directly and simultaneously achieve all four outcomes or develop the requisite infrastructure for population health programs. Quality is one approach within the domain of population health that can achieve the Quadruple Aim if precisely implemented. Application Analysts work closely with clinicians, Epic Clinical & Business Application Teams, and administrators to translate business needs into functional workflows and timely reports to directly affect improvement efforts of health system operations and workflows.
Mastery of the Epic Ambulatory application is required with Healthy Planet, Tapestry, MyChart, and Epic Link as highly preferred experience. Extensive experience in all phases of clinical and business application implementation are required including discovery, validation, workflow and process design, application build, application testing, integrated testing, end-user training, go-live, optimization, maintenance, and upgrade. Applicants should have mastery of the Clarity Data Model and several reporting tools such as Tableau, Structured Query Language (SQL), Crystal Reports, Epic's Radar and Reporting Workbench, Slicer Dicer, Business Objects, data flows from Chronicles to Clarity to Caboodle Data Warehouse, and technical implementation planning. Familiarity with Tapestry and the Epic Caboodle Data Warehouse schema or similar schemas is essential to identify schema/ETL deficiencies, create de-duplicated aggregate views, and output data staged for additional ETL to other database environments is also preferred.
Familiarity with EHR data models and reporting tools such as Slicer Dicer Tableau, Structured Query Language (SQL), Crystal Reports, Epic's Radar and Reporting Workbench, Business Objects, and the like are also strongly preferred. Epic application certifications and proficiencies are strongly preferred and required within 4 months. Product Management
The Lead will function as the technical product manager responsible for developing and maintaining core population health and quality products such as registries, groupers, risk scores, dashboards, reports, health maintenance, best practice advisories, and Slicer Dicer. Product roadmaps should be developed in conjunction with senior leadership, operational stakeholders, and vendor advisors to ensure these products can meet business and clinical requirements including scaling across multiple dimensions. Specific duties include but are not limited to facilitating strategic planning sessions, conducting product related research, developing product requirements and specifications, producing development approaches and timelines, coordinating the integration of products into the larger enterprise product portfolio, assessing third party products/vendor solutions, communication plans, training plans, writing recommendations to senior leadership, and creating maintenance/upgrade plans.
The Lead will receive priorities from their manager but will be responsible for managing their assigned projects. Specific duties include but are not limited to developing and maintaining project plans, directing work to other informatics, creating status reports, facilitating decisions, identifying and mitigating risks, collecting and interpreting data from various sources, presenting measure and program results to clinical and operations executives, and managing evolving technical requirements.
The Lead will support the Principal Trainer and/or Instructional Designer in the design, content, and delivery of training materials to system users. Experience with training users across a range of practice sizes, scope of practice, specialty, EHR, and
