The Ayroles laboratory in the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks applicants for a casual hourly research assistant position. Our group takes a multi-disciplinary approach to investigate the genetic basis for variation in complex traits addressing broad questions in evolutionary and medical genetics. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to assist the researchers in the lab on their projects.
This is a short-term casual hourly position of approximately 30-40 hours/week. The expected timeframe of this position is May 30 through June 30, 2019. Review of applications will begin immediately. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities may include:
Applying molecular biology and microbiology techniques.
Drosophila maintenance, crossing, and screening
Participation in experimental design and execution of experiments.
Participation in group meetings.
Other lab duties as assigned.
Experience with Drosophila husbandry, basic microbiology, and/or basic molecular techniques.
Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
Strong attention to detail and meticulous lab notebook keeping.
Excellent communication skills.
