The Director of Operational Technology Platforms will support applications and systems within HUIT's Operational Technology portfolio. Operational Technologies (OT) are technologies that monitor or control things in our physical environment. They include such things as: building control systems, industrial control systems, lab monitoring and control systems, etc. This position is part of a team providing support for existing OT systems, and involved in deploying new OT systems. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical systems and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.
Principal duties and Responsibilities:
As it relates to key University level OT platforms
Be one of the top experts on these platforms including Building Management System (BMS) platforms, industrial and plants control systems, and other OT platforms as the OT portfolio of the University evolves.
Ensure the platforms meet the needs of the business, and are built and operated in a cost-efficient manner.
Oversee and drive the implementation of key initiatives/projects relating to these platforms, and other OT solutions.
Manage a team of OT architects and system implementers to design and implement OT solutions that best meet the needs of the business users, meet HUIT's standards, industry best practices in a cost-efficient manner.
Act as key advisor to business partners in assessing security and operational risk associated with OT solutions, and identifying possible mitigation options.
Ensure successful transition from project to operations
As a member of the HUIT OT leadership team:
Participate, and represent HUIT's OT capabilities in University level senior business stakeholder forums – including: CIO Council, Sustainability and Energy Management Council (SEMC), University Construction Management Council (UCMC), Units construction and facility leadership, Energy & Facility leadership in Campus Services.
Be a key contributor to defining the roadmap to evolve the University's OT capabilities
Be a key contributor to evolve University level policies and controls as it relates to Information Security for OT
Participate in University level account management structures to manage third party technology providers (e.g. Siemens, Schneider)
Develop functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and other documents necessary for implementation of an OT roadmap.
Actively support innovation and the increased use of technology to deliver value to the University in the context of building construction, space management, etc.

Minimum of seven years' post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in building infrastructure solutions for complex distributed systems, including: building servers, designing and implementing network structures
Strong knowledge of networking, including complex, large scale networking environments, and the complexities associated with devices that have sub-par IP capabilities
Demonstrated experience with the architecture, design, and management of OT systems (e.g., Industrial Control systems, Building Management Systems, etc.)
Ability to accept and meet critical deadlines with good planning and organizational skills
Demonstrated experience in assessing security risks and identifying possible mitigations
Familiarity with NIST 800 series, and/or security certifications a plus
Strong communication, influence and negotiation skills preferred
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., shell, Python, etc.)
Experience with SaaS, and cloud-based solutions preferred
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse businesses/industries
Excellent project management and execution skills
Ability to self-prioritize work effectively
