Binghamton University is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Enterprise Applications team in a shared position with the Division of Academic Affairs. The Applications team identifies and builds solutions that are reliable, scalable and based on proven technologies by vendors such as Oracle, Ellucian, SAS, CA Technologies, IBM, Internet 2, Blackboard, and many others.
The Enterprise Systems and Applications group is responsible for the systems infrastructure and the development and support of many of the Universities' online systems. Academic Affairs and the campus community require a robust, reliable, and flexible reporting environment to support students, operations, and planning. A successful candidate will effectively and efficiently support the newly installed SAS Business Intelligence Platform. Experience with applications used in Higher Education such as Ellucian Banner, ODS, Workflow, and Oracle software is a plus.
The Business Intelligence Analyst reports to Enterprise Applications Team Manager and Senior Associate Vice President for Budget & Business Affairs and will work closely with Administrative and Academic departments throughout the campus community.
In addition, the Business Intelligence Analyst will:
Expand the new SAS Business Intelligence Platform into an environment that meets the growing analytic needs of the campus community
Support the development and interpretation of campus dashboards, queries, and reports to ensure functional areas are providing consistent and accurate data from their analysis
In conjunction with the Office of Institutional Research, assist departments in using analytic methods that could identify correlations in University data that can be used to improve student success, refine business processes, streamline operations, and enhance safety
Provide production support for the Business Intelligence Platform including problem analysis, software upgrades, and end user support
In conjunction with the University Training Center, assist in the training of end users on the Business Intelligence Platform
Participate in security audits and assist in the implementation of best practices to mitigate risk
Document processes and best practices within the Business Intelligence Platform
Assist in the integration of disparate systems and technologies
Serve on the Binghamton University Business Intelligence Steering Committee
Serve on the University Data Governance Committee as needed
Assist in the integration of third party applications into the SAS platform
Must be able to maintain data confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements (HIPAA, FERPA, PCI, etc.)
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a related field
Minimum of five years integrating business systems and applications with a minimum of two years in a Business Intelligence/Analyst role
Proven proficiency with statistical analysis tools
Strong hands-on skills using SAS and relational database management systems (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, and ability to deal with ambiguity in a changing business environment
Experience in working in a large complex organization
Experience working with SAS Enterprise Guide
Experience working in higher education or a research environment
