Under the general direction of the Vice President for Student Learning and Success, the Dean for Student Learning – Transfer/General Education independently develops, implements, markets, assesses, and manages the daily operations of transfer and general education programs. The Dean for Student Learning oversees specific academic discipline clusters along with the following: 1) assessment and program review, and 2) faculty division chairs. Primary responsibilities include: leading disciplines in developing and offering courses and programs; managing budgets, facilitating articulation with other educational institutions; assuring program integrity; promoting a supportive team environment; and providing visionary leadership for programs. This position is responsible for continuing to lead assigned work grounded in the college’s strategic plan and priority initiatives. The Dean is responsible for sustaining existing recruiting, hiring, supporting, and supervising faculty and staff. The Dean also ensures all faculty assessment procedures are followed.
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution
Teaching experience in higher education
Academic administrative experience, including roles such as department or division chair
Experience with outcomes assessment and/or program review
Ability to work effectively with faculty and staff
Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, and the ability to support a diverse workplace and educational environment
Successful experience supervising instructional programs at the department/division level that support a learning organization
Teaching experience in a community college or equivalent diverse learning environment
Demonstrated leadership in facilitating student learning assessment and/or academic program review
Experience in nurturing a supportive team environment
Experience managing budgets
Experience using online education environments including Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas
