The Department of Anesthesiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA includes multiple anesthesia subspecialties (cardiac, obstetric, neurologic, ophthalmologic, pediatric, transplant, pain management, and critical care). Faculty positions in all areas become available periodically. Requirements for all positions include clinical skills, didactic skills, and possession or eligibility for a California Medical License.
Appointment in the In-Residence series requires evidence of research productivity or a trajectory to research productivity, scholarship, and an enthusiasm for discovery. The successful candidate will have a MD or MD PhD and a strong commitment to academic anesthesiology. The Department seeks candidates with a research background and interest in brain health, perioperative and critical illness associated cognitive outcomes, and biomarkers and prognostic indicators of cognitive impairment to build on a growing clinical and translational interdisciplinary neuroscience research program.
The successful candidate will have a commitment to collaborative and independent research and a commitment to a path to independent extramural funding. The Department provides resources to support the academic endeavor of early career physician scientists.
In addition to participation in research and scholarly endeavors that will lead to academic promotion, duties include patient care, teaching of fellows and residents. Leadership skills, administrative experience, and teaching experience are a plus.
Candidates must hold a M.D. or equivalent degree, be eligible to work in the United States and licensed (or licensable) to practice medicine in California. We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits.
