Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Director Education Outreach, the Exploring College Program Administrator is responsible for the operations of a college readiness and advising program for area first generation and low-income college students, including supervising work-study students and volunteers. This position starts July 1, 2019 and is a one year term with the possibility of renewal/extension for an additional year.
Provide supervision of student mentors who are participating either voluntarily, via fieldwork and/or community service work-study;
Provide and maintain academic and support resources for Exploring College scholars and mentors;
Plan and supervise weekly schedule of activities and tutoring and lead group activities as needed;
Counsel individual scholars about their college application process and advise them on deadline, testing advice, and developing a plan for college application;
Arrange transportation for mentors and scholars as needed;
Assist in the planning for Summer Intensive Program, including hiring, administrative needs, out of class activities, and scheduling staff;
Recruit scholars to the Exploring College Program;
Maintain communication about the program with students, mentors, parents and other supporters via social media or other means;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Qualifications: College Degree required. Experience in education or related field required; Experience in school/college partnerships and or community outreach programs preferred; Demonstrated multicultural competence, and knowledge and/or experience working with low-income, underrepresented, and students from diverse backgrounds; Knowledge of the college admissions process preferred; Valid driver's license required; Ability to travel within the area frequently.
