This position is responsible for the care and maintenance of all university maintained plumbing and mechanical systems. Primary responsibilities will include work assignments from the Plumbing shop. Essential duties and responsibilities will include mechanical system trouble-shooting, steam boiler service, routine maintenance repairs, on-call duty, work order response, and preventive maintenance tasks.
High school diploma or equivalent. Must have a working knowledge of residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical systems including boilers, pumps, lift stations, dish washing and kitchen equipment, and repair of sinks, faucets, showers, and toilets.

Length Of Experience:
Two years experience in plumbing/mechanical field. A minimum of one year trade school certification in plumbing and/or equivalent combination of higher education and experience preferred. Must have a working knowledge of residential and commercial plumbing and mechanical systems including boilers, pumps, lift stations, dish washing and kitchen equipment, and repair of sinks, faucets, showers, and toilets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Supervisor in completing work orders in a timely fashion.
Help with major college functions as needed (graduation, convocation, snow, etc.)
Maintain communication to campus community through building liaisons regarding equipment status of interruption of service.
Available for on-call duty after normal business hours.
Any other work deemed necessary by the Supervisor, Utilities Maintenance Manager or higher authority.
This position is considered a full-time, first shift or second shift position, currently scheduled Monday through Friday During the first 90 to 120 days, this position will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to allow for an orientation period. Please also note that in the near future the regular work days could be changing to Tuesday through Saturday to cover weekend work requests and special events. This change will occur when the university determines it is in their best interest to adjust.
Must have a valid driver license and be insurable by the University's carrier. Following a conditional offer of employment, Elon conducts motor vehicle record checks on all job applicants who are required to drive a university vehicle as an essential function of their job. Thereafter, a random motor vehicle record check will be conducted annually. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a motor vehicle record check.
