Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Inpatient Units at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is to provide technical nursing care to pediatric through adult populations under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. The LPN performs treatments and procedures within established guidelines and provides a safe and therapeutic environment.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Participates in data collection related to patient status and needs.
Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care.
Informs and instructs patients/significant others on patient's health/illness state and plan of care.
Assists patients/significant others in preparation for discharge and health maintenance in the home.
Contacts insurance companies for certification and recertification of patients.
Administers medications and parenteral therapy in accordance with established UBHC guidelines.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
Six to twelve months of recent experience as an LPN.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong clinical nursing specialty.
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and proficiency in word processing.
Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities.
LPN experience in an acute care setting.
Recent clinical experience in the relevant clinical specialty.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Position requires standing 2/3 of the time, walking to 2/3 of the time, sitting 1/3 of the time, use of hands to finger, handle or feel 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms, 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 1/3 of the time, talk or hear over 2/3 of the time.
