Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Staff Nurse (Part-Time) for the Inpatient Unit, Crisis and Acute Psychiatric Services at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The Staff Nurse provides nursing services and participates in the delivery of individualized, goal directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process, in accordance with the departmental and hospital policies and procedures and all regulatory requirements. The Staff Nurse functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team; participates in quality improvement activities, educational activities and supports research endeavors. The role is consistent with the scope and standards outlined by the American Psychiatric Nurses Association for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.
Assesses and diagnoses patient, family and significant other's needs in order to provide quality care to assigned patients.
Documents initial nursing assessment and individualized, goal directed plan of care considering the psychological, social, physical health and safety needs of the patient, in accordance with unit standards.
Develops, discusses and communicates a realistic, individualized plan of care for each patient, in collaboration with the patient, family and significant other, in an effort to promote wellness and recovery.
Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures, as necessary, for the care and safety of the patient.
Educates patient regarding medication, illness, physical health promotion, coping skills and other topics to promote wellness and recovery.
Maintains concurrent and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the multidisciplinary team, in order to ensure quality care.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from a state accredited school of nursing.
Current License as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have the ability to provide psychiatric nursing, relate to patients, use the nursing process, problem solve, direct non-professional staff and the ability to request help, as needed.
Must demonstrate strong clinical nursing specialty and excellent communication skills.
Must have experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and proficiency in word processing.
