Director, Finance and Research Operations

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) invites well-qualified, internal candidates to apply for the position of Director, Finance and Research Operations. The Director will provide management and supervision of the research (post-award) and financial operations of the college. CHSS Finance & HR supports 16 departments and programs. CHSS has annual research expenditures of approximately $18M and 200 active grants. This position supervises the Associate Director, Post Award Services.
Research related duties include:
Monitoring university and college level policy compliance, and making recommendations for improvements;
Proposal review and coordination with the Associate Dean of Research;
Review new awards and award budgets;
Monitor research center budgets and grant activity;
Liaison with OSP;
Train and mentor departmental and center research administration and prepare research reporting and data analysis.
Finance related duties include:
Ensure efficiency of procedures, update and revise as needed;
Forecasting and reporting for special programs;
Liaison with Provost's Office and Fiscal Services;
Assist in reporting and analysis on departmental revenue and expenditures.
Significant demonstrated and relevant professional experience in research administration including a strong fiscal background (at least 5 years);
Substantial experience with financial reporting systems, federal compliance and post award administration;
Demonstrated ability to successfully interpret and advise on federal, state and agency regulations, policies and procedures;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in Higher Education, particularly in a local academic unit;
Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP and MicroStrategy.
