LOCATION: Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA), Knoxville, TN.
EFFECTIVE DATE: June – August 2019 or until suitable candidate is identified. This position is available immediately and screening of candidates will begin immediately.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be part of an entomology research team. Specifically, the position will assist faculty pollinator surveys and field experiments by collecting, preparing samples, and identifying species, and preparing written and oral reports for dissemination of research. This position will also monitor daily activities of various laboratories for safety, organization and cleanliness, and work ethic compliance.
Essential duties and responsibilities will include: -Perform technical and administrative tasks in the lab and field, including training incoming personnel in proper lab conduct and health and safety regulations. May instruct in experimental protocols. -Manage day-to-day activities within the research laboratory and/or in the field. Enforce safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. -Work both independently and within a small team to conduct research.
