Carnegie Mellon University's Pre-College program is a six-week summer program for high school students to explore college life both inside and outside of the classroom. The program enrolls approximately 780 residential students and 50 commuter students. The Pre-College fields of study include Advanced Placement Early Admission (APEA) (credit-bearing courses), Architecture, Art, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Biology, Design, Drama, Music, and the National High School Game Academy, and the Summer Academy for Mathematics and Science (SAMS).
Our Student Affairs division is searching for a hardworking Assistant Director for Pre-College Student Affairs. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in a dynamic and challenging work environment that aspires to deliver a best-in-class experience for high school students. In this role, you will contribute to the program by coordinating logistics and operations related to the program's many meta-curricular activities and developing a robust outside-of-the-classroom experience for students. You will also work as part of the Pre-College operations team and will be assisting with year-round processes of recruiting, admitting, and enrolling Pre-College students.
Your core responsibilities include:
Assisting in the organization and leadership of all operations, including: developing and maintaining relationships with partner departments, developing and presenting the outside-of-the-classroom experience to internal and external partners, and planning and executing large events and activities
Leading recruitment efforts, including: hiring, supervising, training, developing, and evaluating approximately 65 undergraduate residential staff members. Work with campus partners in order to facilitate the administrative aspects of the hiring process. Develop and execute a robust training program for Pre-College residential staff
Overseeing and coordinating administrative activities such as updating and maintaining the Pre-College Student Affairs website, reviewing and updating the learning content and enrollment materials in the Pre-College enrollment portal, and reviewing and maintaining student enrollment records and related operating procedures
Reviewing and analyzing program data as well as benchmark across peer institutions, and being responsible for building and managing the residential program budget
Managing student emergency response, coordination of care, and work in conjunction with the Director for complex student issues necessitating family communication. Ensuring safety and security for Pre-College students by communicating, enforcing and reviewing Pre-College policies and procedures pursuant to industry standards and external requirements
Contributing to departmental and division-wide Student Affairs initiatives as assigned

You should be able to live on campus in assigned housing mid-June to mid-August and travel within the Pittsburgh area during the summer for any programmatic or emergency response needs. Some domestic travel may be required.
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in higher education administration, counseling, education or a related field preferred
Minimum of 1-2 years' experience working with residential and/or high school programs
Obtain all background clearances as may be required by Pennsylvania Act 153
