The Lab of Psychological and Educational Measurement (PEM) in Dept. of Psychology
at University of Notre Dame invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral researcher position. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year based on satisfactory performance. This position is primarily funded by the NSFCAREER grant Cognitive Diagnostic Computerized Adaptive Testing for AP Statistics awarded to the director of the PEM Lab Dr. Ying

The successful candidate would join a research team that is very experienced in development of computer-based student assessment systems, and statistical modeling of student learning data. The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in connecting non-cognitive domains of student learning, most notably student engagement and identity, with student learning. Examples of target areas for scholarship include math education, e-learning, motivation, student engagement, and identity.
The start date of the position is flexible, but we desire an individual to begin work no
later than June 1, 2019. Duties
Aid in the oversight of the project, including mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and overseeing data collection and processing;
Participate in data analysis that include traditional Liker-scale survey responses of non- cognitive domains as well as interaction data between student and the assessment platform (a.k.a process data);
Work with high school statistics teachers to design post-assessment feedback to students;
Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant-related reporting activities, and other

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a doctoral degree in educational psychology, learning sciences, math education, or a related field by time of hire and experience conducting psychological and/or educational research in school settings.
Preferred Qualifications: Background in student engagement, identity, psychometrics, or log data analysis. Experience working with practicing K-12 teachers. Interest and knowledge in quantitative methods, including structural equation modeling an/or multi-level modeling. It is not expected that all candidates will have all o f these areas of expertise and thus we encourage applicants with at least one or more of these desired qualifications to apply. The lab specializes in psychometrics, quantitative methods, and learning analytics. So it will be a great opportunity for someone who would like to grow expertise in quantitative methods.
