Position Summary: Coordinate the 4-H Program in Gem and Boise counties. Responsible for recruiting, certifying, training, and supervising volunteer leaders and 4-H members. Provide leadership in developing, planning, and conducting programs that deliver youth education and volunteer development curricula. Serve as liaison for the 4-H program between the District Director, Extension Specialists, and Extension Educators.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Combination of previous experience as a program assistant/aide and post-secondary education to equal 4 years OR 4 years experience as a program assistant or aide.
DEMONSTRATED: Problem solving, teamwork, decision-making, conflict resolution skills.
ABILITY TO: Work with and adapt research materials for effective oral or written educational use.
ABILITY TO: Utilize computers and current standard computer software (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel) including web-based applications.
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree.
EXPERIENCEWITH: The 4-H Youth Development program; program marketing and promotion; fundraising.
EXPERIENCE: Working with children and/or with adult volunteers.
DEMONSTRATED: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise reports, and effectively speak to audiences of youth and adults.
DEMONSTRATEDABILITY TO: Work with and motivate people in a friendly and courteous manner.
POSSESS: Professional, educational, or personal livestock or horse subject matter experience.
POSSESS: Advanced computer skills such as web design and maintenance, and spreadsheet management.
ABILITY TO: Work with bilingual/bicultural audiences.
DEMONSTRATEDABILITY TO: Operate standard office equipment; type 30-40 wpm; perform essential duties efficiently and accurately with or without reasonable accommodations and without endangering self or other employees.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Willingness and ability to conduct and attend evening and weekend activities and meetings; travel to other work sites. In addition to the use of a county vehicle for work related travel, applicant must sometimes provide own transportation for some travel. Mileage will be reimbursed when personal vehicle is used.
