The Department of Curriculum & Instruction at Eastern Kentucky University invites applicants for the position of tenure-track, assistant or associate professor in science education beginning in August 2019. Responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester, which typically include middle school and secondary school science teaching methods courses, science content pedagogy, and foundations courses for undergraduate and graduate students, student advising, and supervision of students in a clinical/student-teaching setting. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Demonstrable commitment to preparing educators; academic background in science pedagogy; effective communication skills as demonstrated by an on-campus teaching demonstration and research presentation and; ability to teach science pedagogy courses and supervise students in a clinical/student-teaching setting; ability to successfully conduct independent research; and engage in university and community service. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching and interest in student success, show evidence of at least three years of teaching in the middle and/or secondary level, and hold a licensed teaching certification in a science/STEM discipline.
