Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Student Affairs Department. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (VCSA), the Administrative Assistant provides the day-to-day administrative support to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, coordinates and implements calendar. The duties of the Administrative assistant includes but not limited to the following; -Coordinates various meetings for a variety of stakeholders. -Shopper for purchasing system, reserving rooms, ordering and catering. -Coordinates transportation and travel. -Maintains office technology and coordinates all front desk functions. -Provides general administrative support for the VCSA. -Provides administrative support for various working groups and functions within the Office of the Vice Chancellor. -Provides support for major divisional events i.e., annual staff retreat, Orientation, Commencement, Convocation, and other special events. -Assist with the administrative and support functions for special projects; these will change from year-to-year. Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires good communication skills and computer literacy.
Prior experience assisting executive level position; prior experience in a university setting.
Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher). Photocopy/Scanner/Fax/Printing Machine. Multi-Line Telephone. Internet.
