Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Process Analyst for University Procurement. This position reports to the Manager of Continuous Improvement (CI) Team, the Business Process Analyst is a member of the Procurement Center of Excellence organization and is responsible for enabling procurement excellence through improvements around business processes and systems. With the assistance of the Continuous Improvement Manager, this position develops, researches, tests, and implements business process improvements, procedures and system changes, and gathers and evaluates information in order to make recommendations for improvements to business processes or systems. The Business Process Analyst provides detailed analysis to support critical activities and special projects as well as develop tools and templates to streamline procurement initiatives.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Works with the Continuous Improvement Manager and stakeholders to understand business processes, including any process mapping, and recommends solutions for process improvement across the enterprise.
Assesses current processes, identifies defects, areas of improvement and recommends solutions.
Recommends changes to streamline processes to ensure maximum efficiency and appropriate utilization of resources.
Develops a pipeline of business improvement projects.
Creates implementation plan and consult through implementation.
Researches the external market and internal business to find and leverage patterns and best practices in order to improve business processes.
Leads and supports process efficiency and effectiveness initiatives for operational procurement processes.
Identifies and proposes new technology solutions to drive improvements.
Gathers and reports key system metrics and highlighting improvement opportunities.
Develops analytical models, standards, and techniques used by category managers and analysts to collect and evaluate spend data, and manage critical sourcing information.
Oversees spend management and spend analytics Source to Pay (S2P) tools and other procurement enabling solutions.
Advises strategic sourcing team and other procurement members regarding best practices to develop analytical models or to implement data management tools within the organization.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
A Minimum of five (5) years of process improvement or process re-engineering experience ( with 3 years of knowledge of project planning techniques and methodologies).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency with business process analytics using Excel, Visio flowcharting, activity diagrams and workflow models
Demonstrates strong analytical skills with a strong working knowledge of the business in order to effectively translate business needs to process, IT or other solutions
Ability to create or modify process maps or value stream maps
Expert-level user of Windows applications and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and MS Project). Ability to create complex formulas in MS Excel (including MACROs), and quickly learn and achieve proficiency in new software applications
Experience visualizing data (e.g. PivotTables, Tableau) is preferred
Programming expertise (e.g. VBA, Python) is preferred
Demonstrated experience with continuous quality improvement methods and tools
Demonstrated experience using tracking, reporting and process mapping tools
Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
Lean/Six Sigma experience preferred
Previous experience with Robotic Process Automation or Process Optimization a plus
Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment
Experience in working with automated expense systems
Experience with purchasing and account payable systems, preferably Oracle and Jaggaer
Proficiency at using Microsoft's suite of Office products.
