Bachelors degree with concentration in business or related field
5 years of business leadership, management, or consulting experience
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
MBA or equivalent
Prior consulting experience with second stage companies
Demonstrated knowledge of the industries driving the Michigan economy
Strong communication skills
Proficiency in using tools of the remote worker
C-Level experience in a second stage company preferred
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Manage a team of 8-9 full time Business Growth Consultants who help second stage (generally 10 to 99 employee) business clients grow and improve operations through one-on-one and team business consulting and training. Areas of assistance may include strategic planning, process improvement, financial analysis, loan preparation, market diversification, exporting, supply chain management, human resources, and other areas of need as identified.
Maintain a positive team culture that places high priority on inclusiveness, teamwork, accountability and personal fulfillment.
Support Business Growth Consultant efforts in building client portfolios and serving those clients efficiently and effectively.
Oversee development of new programs and tools for second stage companies.
Ensure the Growth Team achieves economic impact targets (including client capital raised, jobs supported/created/retained, and increased revenues) and documents activity per Stakeholder requirements.
Support SBDC Lead Center in development and implementation of strategic plan and special projects.
Establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships with SBDC Stakeholders and Partners including government agencies, economic development organizations, universities and community colleges, lenders, and other organizations active in Michigan's small business community.
Work in collaboration with SBDC Marketing Manager to promote the services and successes of the SBDC Growth Team.
Provide direct business consulting to Michigan second stage businesses.
