Summary of Essential Job Duties:
The Licensed Vocational Nurse, under the direct supervision of the Physician, is responsible for identifying the needs of each patient and assisting in the planning and delivering of patient care to meet those needs. The Licensed Vocational Nurse, after appropriate educational preparation, is capable of an expanded scope of practice in the area of nursing process and intravenous therapy. The Licensed Vocational Nurse provides nursing care consistent with the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, the Plan for the Provision of Care to Patient, CSMC Code of Conduct, The Performance Improvement Plan and The Patient Education Plan. She/he maintains competency skills including the ability to provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. She/he can identify the ability of the adult and geriatric patients to follow direction and give consent. He/she can identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide a safe environment and provide care to patients with consideration of developmental milestones in the adult and geriatric patient population.
In addition, the LVN per diem for Fertility will provide excellent quality care including patient education, phlebotomy and assisting the MD with patient visits in the GYN clinic and other settings as appropriate. Must be comfortable coordinating fertility treatment cycles. The LVN may participate in coordinating specific services as directed. Perform other duties as required.
