The Education Consultant in Continuing Professional Development is the project lead working to identify and address the educational needs of the healthcare community. This is accomplished by consulting on and leading all facets of educational projects including budgets, timelines, accreditation, content development, marketing, and communications. This individual will build and sustain a culture of continuous process improvement and educational programs with measurable outcomes. The ultimate goal will be to establish a higher standard of educational initiatives, promote innovative design and leverage technical solutions which ensuring full compliance with accrediting entities. This position reports to the the Director of the Office of Continuing Professional Development and Academic Affairs.
Educational Project Management (55%)
The education consultant will consult with activity directors, planning committees, and faculty to help them identify and address educational needs.
Development and delivery of strategic educational activities and initiatives (live and online) that provide positive net revenue.
Collaboratively develop and manage activity planning timelines and budgets and help achieve established milestones.
Oversee various aspects of activity design, content development, faculty communications, marketing, materials, and evaluation in a manner that aligns with the identified educational objectives.
Work with team members to manage logistics (venue contracts/arrangements, activity materials, etc).
Function as team leader, apply project management and delegation skills to coordinate planning and implementation with OCPD staff.
Operate in a transparent manner, help ensure alignment with OCPD mission, and introduce innovative approaches to the field of continuing education / continuing professional development.
Client Facilitation (25%)
Apply leadership skills to facilitate effective group process by organizing and conducting productive planning meetings (both internal and external to OCPD).
Maintain effective and open communication to clearly outline expectations, track progress, and invite innovation.
Provide meaningful consultation to clients and educational partners by conducting a systematic review of evaluation feedback.
Conduct and document formal course debriefings to help reinforce a culture of continuous quality improvement
Budget Development and Financial Management (15%)
Collaborate with activity planners to develop, manage, monitor and document activity budgets in a fiscally-responsible and transparent manner compliant with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support and aligned with OCPD department policies and practices.
Oversee the staff resource allocation for planning team and shared services to ensure sound business models are applied and resources are appropriately allocated.
Participate in identification and pursuit of potential revenue-generating opportunities aligned with OCPD mission.
Participate in the development of internal office budget planning and pricing strategies.
Other duties as assigned (5%)
Support the work of the department by participating in special assignments and projects as needed
Bachelor's degree (Education, Organizational Development, Human Resources Development, Business, Quality Improvement, or healthcare related) and at least six (6) years of education and instruction experience or advanced degree (Masters, PhD) with at least four (4) years of experience.
Three (3) or more years of experience related to: a) Experience applying adult education principles to learning, instructional design, and evaluation and outcomes measurement, b) Experience as project manager leading complex, long-term learning projects coordinating work with internal and educational partners on budget, tasks, marketing, scheduling, registration, and evaluation. c) Experience building and maintaining high levels of satisfaction with clients while maintaining a focus on accreditation compliance requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail, experience working effectively as a team member in a fast-paced, complex environment with multiple projects, tight deadlines, and shifting priorities.
Proven ability to develop timelines for multiple projects and conduct business in a manner designed to monitor and successfully meet those deadlines.
Proficiency with productivity tools, e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Office.
Previous healthcare educational expereince
Previous experience managing elearning proejcts.
Familiarity with accreditation compliance (continuing medical education/continuing professional development or related field).
Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and monitor project budgets.
Experience with various software and technical tools to include project management tracking, online survey instruments, and relational database experience.
